ROCKET 3 STORM
The Triumph Rocket 3, known for its massive engine, has a history rooted in the US muscle-cruiser market and a legacy of powerful, large-displacement motorcycles. Development began in 1999, with the initial goal of creating a rival for Harley-Davidson and Japanese bikes, eventually resulting in the largest mass-produced motorcycle engine at 2294cc. The project, led by Ross Clifford, involved extensive market research, particularly in the US, where big cruisers were popular. The design, led by John Mockett, went through several iterations based on consumer feedback, with the final product hitting the market in 2004. A touring version was later introduced, targeting the large cruiser market, followed by the Rocket 3 Roadster in 2014, which featured visual improvements and black-finished components. In 2020, an all-new Rocket 3 was launched, with a larger engine, new chassis, and advanced electronic features.
The name "Rocket III" is derived from the 1968 BSA 750cc pushrod triple, the Rocket 3, which was a badge-engineered version of the original "Triumph Trident".
